Best of Bridge
Take 6 enthusiastic women, add talented taste buds, a lively sense of humor, a really good idea, and what do you get? Culinary chaos, a lot of laughter and 9 best-selling cookbooks.
The Best of Bridge was established by bridge playing friends in 1975 on a lark. Their intention was to write a cookbook and prove they could start a viable business which would raise enough money to spend their next girls' weekend playing bridge in Vancouver!
One year and a lot of hard work later, The Best of Bridge was born and their lives were changed forever. With no advertising budget to speak of they hit the road and talked to anyone who'd listen.
Decked out in their highly recognizable aprons, they were soon telling their story to the Canadian media (W5, Canada AM, Venture, Dini Petti, CTV National News, CBC Morningside, Vicky Gabereau, Canadian Living and the national newspapers). The retailers became their friends and the rest was word of mouth.
They have been the subject of newspaper and magazine articles all over North America and Japan and have cooked their way through innumerable trade shows, super market demos and book store signings - always laughing! In 31 years, they have written and published 9 best-selling cookbooks, sold over 3,000,000 copies - and best of all - they are still friends! Now that's a success story!
The Best of Bridge Partners are Karen Brimacombe, Linda Jacobson, Mary Halpen, Helen Miles, Valerie Robinson, and Joan Wilson. They have received numerous awards, the most recent of which is the 2006 Women of Vision Award. |
